Parsons is now hiring a Project Planner for our rapidly expanding portfolio of multimodal transportation projects.   

Parsons extensive experience in this field combined with your planning knowledge and engineering techniques will propel your career forward. We need our Project Planners at this level to apply diverse and intensive proficiency in the use of technical theories, practices, and company policies.   In this role you will provide technical direction to a team of urban/environmental planning professionals and technicians on a large project, or on several smaller projects or studies, involving the development of plans for the utilization of land and physical facilities of cities, counties, and metropolitan areas.  Our planners are responsible for the technical excellence of the tasks and analyses performed, regulatory compliance, and for on schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations.           


  • Performs transportation planning work assignments including transit planning and design. Assignments range from data collection and research, transit analysis, transportation planning activities, traffic forecasting and modeling, corridor and regional studies, evaluating alternatives, and report writing.
  • Serves as a technical leader and as a recognized expert in field of practice.
  • Works as a part of a team to develop planning and/or engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes tasks such as defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
  • Monitors productivity and proficiency of assigned personnel.
  • Reviews work produced by those assigned to ensure that all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations are followed, that current techniques are utilized, and that quality is acceptable.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and facilitates public/stakeholder involvement and consensus-building at meetings and workshops.
  • Coordinates with project teams by providing input, technical guidance to other team members on the same project.
  • Tracks scope, schedule, and budget, and provides quality oversight.
  • Assists in proposal development efforts for a variety of transportation-related projects, including both planning and engineering work.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and professional network throughout Colorado.
  • Provides advice and counsel regarding regulatory compliance issues. Serves as key contact for major clients. May serve on technical review boards, committees, and panels for projects which will have a major impact on a community or urban area.
  • Tracks scope, schedule, and budget, and provides quality oversight.
  • Reviews and evaluates project deliverables, and recommends changes to overall project plan as appropriate.
  • Maintains active membership in appropriate professional organizations and societies. Represents the Company at conferences, seminars, meetings, etc.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


  • Bachelor's degree in Urban/Environmental Planning or related field.
  • 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Certified Planner Certification is preferred, but not required, at this level.
  • Expert knowledge of urban/environmental planning practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in utilizing PC and various software packages typically used in transportation planning assignments is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability for performing in a supervisory capacity on a project.
