Job Description

Performs a variety of engineering tasks related to the development, operation, and maintenance of complex technology systems. Design work may include logic design, circuit design, I/O design, instrumentation design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, network structure design, and analog or binary systems engineering. Analyzes integration of system processes and methodologies to ensure effectiveness of total system performance. Incumbents typically have a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or an engineering, technical, or scientific discipline specifically related to area of specialty. Work as part of a team in a research, design, and development environment to produce a wide variety of products, ranging from ground vehicle-based, to UAS-based, to handhelds, and others. Formulate innovative solutions to problems-- then design, build, and integrate them. Eager to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment. Work alongside mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and others in support of R&D, rapid prototyping, and design efforts.

Candidates should have experience with one (or more!) of the following areas:

•         Electrical Engineering

o   Experience working with and design of PCBs incorporating various technologies, including CameraLink, A-PNT, FTDI, RS-232/422/485, USB, FPGA, etc.

o   Experience working with SOM microcontrollers such as ARM

o   Experience with CADENCE Allegro OrCAD PCB Design Professional and/or FAB3000 V7

o   Experience with Intel Quartus Prime and/or ModelSim

o   Experience with Rowley Crossworks for ARM and/or MPLAB IDE

o   Experience with VHDL

•         Mechanical Engineering

o   Experience in both mechanical modeling and design of three-dimensional components and assemblies

o   Experience with SolidWorks for component design, including enclosures, brackets, etc.

o   Experience with thermal management such as created by computer systems or other electrical components in harsh environments

•         Systems Engineering

o   Experience with designing and documenting complex hardware and software systems based on customer-specified requirements

o   Experience identifying and evaluating COTS parts and components for use in systems; able to formulate alternative solutions when COTS parts are not available, including custom-designed parts, modifying system designs to bridge capability gaps, etc.

o   Familiarity with the current state of the art in various fields, including imaging sensors, thermal sensors, biometrics, surveillance, embedded systems, and more

o   Experience working with and analyzing various types of production documents such as Bills of Material, Technical Drawing Packages, and other system design documents

Regardless of focus area(s), candidates should be:

•         Comfortable working on many projects at one time

•         Comfortable changing skill sets at a moment’s notice

And should have:

•         Good communications skills to discuss project status with customers

•         Excellent component level troubleshooting skills

•         Bachelor’s degree or higher in related Engineering or Technical field

•         5+ years of related experience

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain, or currently possess Prescreen Required clearance.
