PARSONS has an opening for an experienced Architect or Engineer to function as a Project Administrator (PA) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California.

The ideal candidate will manage various engineering, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, construction, and fit-up aspects of multiple small to medium-size construction projects. Parsons team of onsite PA’s are responsible for the technical excellence of each building project including coordination of technical disciplines, of materials and equipment, and construction planning assistance.  Parsons employees assigned to JPL work full time at the Lab and observe JPL’s 9/80 work week having every other Friday off.


Architect/Engineer develops the scope of work, schedule, and budget for their assigned projects, and then monitors the progress to meet schedule and budget requirements. The project manager identifies, and documents changes in scope, complies with government regulations and procedures and shepherds the bid process. He/she will stay with each project through construction, commissioning and close-out.

Parsons representative reviews work produced by A/E firms under contract to JPL to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed, and that quality is paramount.  Project Administrator monitors productivity and technical proficiency of assigned technical personnel  and makes adjustments should  project needs arise.

Parsons PA ensures that client criteria and scope are met or exceeded by all disciplines and  expedites distribution of action items following discussions/meetings with the client and other interested stakeholders.

Duties include preparation of technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management as well as project close-out materials and placement with document control. Candidate has the ability to cover for other project managers as needed, such as attending meetings in his/her absence, etc. Obtain, analyze, and circulate technical and contractual information to project disciplines. Reviews and approves change orders and contract work orders.  Notifies project management and other affected personnel of all changes. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


4-year degree in Architecture or Engineering (or related field) and 12 years or more of related field  experience. The ideal candidate will have worked in facilities at a University Campus, Hospital complex or other large multi-building office environment. Professional registration a plus.


Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/leadership role, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a complete knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required.
