Parsons is now hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer for our rapidly expanding portfolio of projects.   

Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your advanced  Mechanical Engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with opportunity for advancement with top performance.  We need our engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills.   In this role you will ensure consistency with applicable codes and customer quality requirements in an environment geared for industrial ventilation, airborne contamination control or exhaust filtration systems. You will provide cooling and heating load calculations as well as air and water distribution system pressure drop calculations. You will review vendor and subcontractor submittals as well as select HVAC equipment.   

Responsibilities: 

  • Extensive overseas travel shall be a requirement for these positions. 
  • Candidates must meet DoS physical requirements as a prerequisite to be considered for the position.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Shall have a final TOP SECRET security clearance at the time of hire
  • Performance will be primarily on-site at state annex six (SA6), 1701 N. Fort Myer Drive, Rosslyn VA 22209
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience: 7 – 10 years
  • Special Qualification:  EIT Certificate Required; Professional Engineer License preferred but not required.

Develop and/or review planning documents; Conduct building code compliance evaluations; Perform peer review of plans, specification, and technical reports prepared by others; Develop design concepts and detailed designs; Coordinate with architectural, civil/structural and electrical disciplines; Provide support in project design, bid and construction phases; Develop project schedules; Conduct cost-benefit analysis; Develop design life cycle cost estimates; Serve as project/team lead; Develop scopes of work; Provide contract administration support; Conduct technical studies; Develop project schedules; Conduct feasibility studies; Lead the production of design and technical information Work and maintain agreed technical and design standards. Attend meetings at various State Department Annex facilities upon request.  Visits may require overseas travel at the request of the designated OBO representative.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical Engineering required
7-10 years experience in mechanical design (Experience may include HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, ventilation systems)
Prefer candidates with experience in mechanical design/engineering of facilities and related mechanical systems
Candidate must be proficient with AutoCAD
Revit experience preferred

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain, or currently possess Top Secret clearance.
