POSITION OVERVIEW:

Develops plans for accomplishing preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment functionality throughout testing, commissioning and operation of a newly constructed Category II Nuclear processing facility. This position employs full planning responsibility for interpreting, evaluating, organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating the execution of work assignments; maintains liaisons with individuals and groups, both inside and outside the company, who are responsible for various planning, testing and operational phases of the project.  

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates data and service requests for validity and redundancy, determines project impact and assigns a priority for maintenance engineers and technicians for accomplishment. Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of planning work in a number of critical facets. Gathers, compiles, and analyzes resource data affecting execution.  Assignments may require both conventional planning expertise and innovative solutions.
  • Performs field walkdowns, hazard analysis and basic engineering assessment to develop repair methodologies and maintenance work packages associated with an extremely diverse array of systems and components.
  • Documents field engineering analysis, troubleshooting efforts, and repair strategies in the computerized maintenance management system along with work history and log entries. 
  • Estimates resource allocation and oversees work assignments of technicians and/or other Planners.
  • Confers with local Department of Energy officials to understand and adjudicate any project planning questions and recommends to maintenance management methods to improve maintenance execution.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and facilitates cross-discipline involvement and team-building in maintenance meetings, training, and process improvement.
  • Reviews and evaluates maintenance performance metrics and schedule impacts, and recommends changes to overall maintenance execution strategy as appropriate.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year degree in Environmental Planning or related field with 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Candidates with Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) project experience are highly preferred.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners Certification is preferred at this level.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficiency in utilizing PC and various software applications related to field of expertise is required.  Also requires thorough knowledge of standard practices within field of expertise, as well as applicable codes and regulations.  
  • Must be proficient in use of communication technology and automation in order to achieve the highest level of productivity.  Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a thorough understanding of DOE statutes and regulations, and the proven ability for performing in a lead capacity on a project.  
  • Thorough knowledge of standard work planning and scheduling practices and associated control systems, including working knowledge of best practices of work management. 
  • Knowledge of procurement practices, including expediting initiatives. 
  • Thorough knowledge of hazard analysis and control methods for worker protection. 
  • Must possess the ability to coordinate and work well with multiple groups for planning high hazard, complex work initiatives. 
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communications on technical and non-technical subjects. 
  • Basic knowledge of plant process equipment including utilities, hand and power tools, and test equipment. 
  • Working knowledge of craft tools and calibration equipment, including hand and power tools, test equipment, mobile and fixed cranes.
