Location: This role can reside in either these locations: Richardson or Austin or Houston, TX

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support Transportation projects in the areas of road/highway/interchange design, traffic design, maintenance of traffic (MOT) and drainage/hydrology design. We work on both conventional bid/build and design/build projects and our group in Richardson supports offices around Texas and beyond!

Engineers with a broad design background or even specialization in one area are desirable. We are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer, well versed with Road/Highway design, who enjoys working with clients and pays attention to the small details that deliver the greatest designs. 
In this role, you will develop engineering designs and calculations and proposal support, for complex roadway, highway, and interchange projects for Texas and other states.  

Detailed Responsibilities Includes:

Major focus areas of this position include the following capabilities: Maintenance of Traffic plans, Highway Design, and Storm Drainage Design. Lead Engineer will be able to prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs, specifications, datasheets, construction documents, technical reports and presentation summaries for outside clients and agencies.   

The Lead Engineer should be able to complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. This position reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.

Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and Junior level Engineers working on the same project.

May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field) and 8+ years of related work experience. Master's degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration in Texas is required or the ability to get a TX PE through reciprocity.
  • Previous experience on a variety of TxDOT projects is highly preferred, especially those related to Maintenance of Traffic, Highway Design, and/or Drainage Design.
  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with transportation engineering is required. This includes the use of MicroStation, InRoads (latest version), AutoTurn, Hec-Ras, Storm Drainage Design, and related programs.
