Environmental Field Coordinator

Parsons is currently looking for an Environmental Scientist or Engineer to act as our site coordinator at the BP refinery. The coordinator will be the primary gatekeeper for the O&M schedule and Health and Safety requirements. This role will be supported by the project manager and O&M and environmental supervisors.

Responsibilities include management of:

  • Scheduling tasks related to operations and maintenance (O&M) of groundwater remediation systems (office and field)
  • Health and safety (H&S) competencies associated with tasks and personnel including but not limited to training, audits, reporting and documentation.

Additional responsibilities will be determined based upon the needs of remediation group clients and may require priorities to be adjusted on short notice.  

Position will report to a senior environmental engineer and will work with various engineers, scientists and administrative personnel.  Additionally, candidate will interact with safety and human resources staff.

Candidates with prior experience in scheduling or health & safety coordination will be preferred. Experience in groundwater remediation systems, oil recovery from the ground, and soil and groundwater sampling is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with valid 40-hr HAZWOPER and/or 10-hr OSHA construction certification(s).    The coordinator needs to have a strong safety culture and be able to work in an industrial setting with strong control of work rules.  Coordinator must be flexible with respect to work tasks and the ability to work with diverse people and skill sets.

Position requires ability to work both independently and as part of a team, effective time management, written and verbal communication skills, mechanical aptitude, analytical and interpersonal skills, and a desire to learn and grow professionally. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering with less than two years’ experience
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree may be considered based on the application
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Successful candidate will be comfortable with both field work and office work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Training strongly preferred
  • 10-hour OSHA Construction Training strongly preferred
  • Required to obtain homeland security clearance (TWIC)
  • Ability to work safely in industrial settings and in the field and use requisite safety equipment is also required
