T4 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons as the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Electronics Installation Technician at this level will provide installation support for the Parsons T4 Program throughout the Western Pacific Region at various Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) facilities. The position will require the performance of non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity and are typically parts of broader assignments as active members of a installation crew. Candidate will receive technical advice from Resource Administrator or Project Manager, and work will be reviewed for technical adequacy of conformity with instructions or specifications. Candidate may be assisted by lower level technicians and have frequent contact with professionals and others within Parsons and the client (FAA).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform site preparation work for:
    • Master demarcation systems, voice switches, automation, radar, NAVAIDS/VISAIDS, fiber optics, and weather equipment at En-route Centers and Terminal TRACONS and ATCTS.
    • Radios and associated equipment at Remote Transmitter/Receiver (RTR) sites.
    • Radar and associated equipment at Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR) facilities.
    • NAVAIDS/VISAIDS and associated equipment at various airport airfields.
  • Perform electronics installation, integration and testing for rehoming and monitoring the AFSS radios to the selected En-route and Terminal Air Traffic Control Towers.
  • Remove, repair, or replace components, wires, wire bundles, terminal blocks, and/or connectors
  • Solder, splice, or otherwise install/repair various write types including coaxial, shielded, solid, and stranded wires.
  • Perform Cadwelds or other exothermic connects.
  • Ability to splice fiber optic cables is a plus.
  • Install sensors, wires, cabling, computers, radios, and satellites in an unpredictable, fast paced environment in all weather conditions.
  • Install VHF and UHF radio communication systems to transmit and receive radio messages, as well as electrical power panels, conduits, cableways, control cables, duct banks, AC power panels, racks for various FAA systems.
  • Locate and identify trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
  • Communicates with the Project Manager on the project status via weekly reports.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous FAA experience is preferred.
  • High School Diploma AND 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Basic computer skills, including, but not limited to, MS Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel. Proficiency in utilizing scheduling software.
  • 100% Travel is required.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.) is required.
  • Lift at least 50 pounds is a must.
  • Home must be located in CA, AZ, NV, HI, or within 1 hour drive from a major airport.
  • US Citizen.
  • Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Some form of advanced electronics training from institutions such as junior college, military service, or trade school is a plus.
  • Tower climb certification and experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with cloud-based databases, such as MS SharePoint or Knowledge Service Network (KSN).
  • Experience taking photographs using a digital camera in addition to uploading files/photographs to a computer/memory device or internet site.
  • Previous Federal Government experience.
  • Self-starter and ability learn and adapt quickly.
