Business Development Director – Transportation Infrastructure – Northern California

Are you a Business Development professional experienced selling engineering, construction, planning or design services to the transportation markets?  Do you have a keen interest in and follow new market trends?  If your business relationships include the Northern California transportation authority’s and agencies, then this may be your perfect opportunity. The ideal candidate for this role will have a demonstrated professional history with client business development and interface in the Bay Area and Northern California regional market.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Our Mobility Solutions group is transforming the infrastructure industry and seeks a Business Development Director to join our team.  In this role you’ll be responsible for extending and expanding our services within multiple market lines including: bridge, highway, rail, aviation, and tunneling.
  • Based in either our Oakland or San Francisco, CA offices, this role will be responsible for full lifecycle sales efforts across the Northern California Region and will report to the Regional Business Development SVP. 
  • To be considered you’ll need to be a business development professional or proven seller/doer who can strengthen our current business ties and organize and lead meetings between clients / potential clients and technical / key staff, build pursuit teams, and attend industry events especially in the San Francisco Bay area.
  • You will be a key member of our management team, ensuring adherence to internal business development processes, engaging directly in proposals and bids to help determine approach, pricing structure, and equitable contract terms and conditions. 
  • The individual will also be a successful negotiator on contracts as well as teaming and joint venture agreements. 
  • You must be able to recognize, and act upon, opportunities to promote our expertise and past performance. 
  •  The position will require travel within Northern California to cultivate new and ongoing business development endeavors and periodic travel elsewhere to attend company meetings and workshops. 
  • Establishing and maintaining client contacts, use of our CRM system, developing sales strategy, ability to successfully propose and win contracts will be keys to your success.

Requirements :

  • 15+ years of transportation experience, primarily within the business development for traditional and alternative delivery method procurements.
  • Successful track record of developing new and ongoing relationships with key infrastructure (bridge, highway, rail, aviation, and tunnel) clients in Bay Area market that has resulted in key awards. 
  • Experience in leading strategic planning, strategic teaming, win strategies, and proposal/presentation development.  
  • Thorough understanding of pricing and contract terms, as well as negotiation experience with potential transportation clients and partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Planning, Architecture or Business from an accredited institution.
